The last thing that a funeral should be is ordinary. It’s important that you make it your own, for you and your loved ones.
With an Age Co Funeral Plan provided by Dignity, you can plan and arrange your funeral in the way that you would like to be remembered. For instance, depending on the plan you have chosen, you could specify your preferred route of the procession or request a particular hymn or reading. You can express your wishes by adding personal touches to any of the four plans, at any time and if you change your mind there is no extra charge to update them.
Planning for a funeral when bereaved can be extremely stressful for your family, especially if they’ve never arranged a funeral before. By organising and recording your wishes in advance, loved ones can mourn without the worry of making as many difficult decisions, at an already distressing time.
With an Age Co Funeral Plan, your family need not worry about trying to guess what you would have liked – you will have already told them. It could also prevent family disagreements or your family overspending. Families often go above and beyond to honour the memory of their loved one, when in fact it’s the small touches that can matter most.
Adding personal touches
The Age Co Funeral Plan gives you the opportunity to make your funeral reflect your life, and let your loved ones remember your individual personality.
If you would like to add to your chosen plan, here are some things to consider:
- What kind of service would you like and who should lead it?
- What you would like to be read at your service, and who should read it?
- Would you like a particular piece of music to be played?
- Do you have a favourite flower that you’d like to be displayed?
- Would you like to choose Pallbearers?
Making extra contributions
If you choose an Ivy, Holly or Rowan Plan, you may also make additional contributions towards the costs of special requests within your plan. For instance, you may wish to include funds towards an additional limousine for your family or add a number of different locations to your funeral procession.
Adding and making changes to your Age Co Funeral Plan is free, but if what you have requested incurs additional costs that are not covered within your plan then you will need to either make additional contributions to cover this request (not available with the Basic Plan) or ensure your special requests are added to your plan so that your funeral organiser is aware and can cover the costs of this if necessary.
Any contribution you do pay will increase each year in line with the Retail Price Index (RPI) Inflation. We cannot guarantee that your contributions will cover the cost of all of your additions, but you can discuss this with the Customer Service Team anytime. Your Funeral Organiser will be advised of the value of this contribution at the time of arranging the funeral, and if there are any additional costs they can be met at the time.
Your loved ones can add their touches too
When the time comes, your loved ones may also wish to add their own personal touches or additional services too. If the requests are outside the services in the plan, there may be an additional cost. Your Nominated Funeral Director can support and help them with the planning process to create a fitting family tribute.
